Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.

Special religious education

This year, all students will have access to Special Religious Education (SRE). This will be run by Cambridge Park Community Christian Church.

Year 7 SRE classes will run Fridays on a fortnightly basis for 1 hour. Students who have indicated on their enrolment for that they are of a Christian faith will be included in these lessons. Students of other faiths or who have indicated not religion on their enrolment forms will be supervised by their usual teacher in a separate classroom. We are looking into the option of Ethics classes being run at this time, and will provide details to parents if this becomes available.

All other students are invited to attend SRE at 2.20pm until 3.00pm on Tuesday afternoons.

Information on the curriculum followed by the Christian Community Church Cambridge Park can be found at the following link cpchurch.org.au/schools.html.
